Re: Another sad day for the Bodybuilding world.
Wow, this is sad.
I spent six months out in Cali in the year 2000 for my job. I was training at a 24 hour fitness in Aliso Viejo, Paul was a personal trainer there. We talked a lot. He was very cool and down to earth. I asked him why he wasn't competing anymore, he told me he couldn't afford it financially.
This sucks.

Re: Another sad day for the Bodybuilding world.
i remember reading in one of the bb mags that he was involved in a domestic spat with a wife or girlfriend and either he pulled out a gun or he had a gun and he got locked up for that and it seems like that was the beginning of the end, sad news if it really is true

Re: Another sad day for the Bodybuilding world.
Unbelievable.
Paul was my idol and favorite bb'er when I started in this game met him several times at his prime and he was just unreal.
Paul had unlimited potential, and was fairly successful getting a huge MET-RX Contract and a new vette with that contract in the early 1990's.
Unfortunately, he had some problems with the law which left him for no appetite for the sport after that.
He served jail time for "attempted murder" because he shot a gun in the air outside in an argument with his wife.
The police got a crack addict down the street to testify he fired the gun at his wife to get a bigger conviction and sentence.
No one knows what personal demons he had to fight after that but he did resume training and get back in great shape.
Unfortunately it seems his life took a turn for the worse and the addiction ended up killing him.
May he rest in peace and to me he is one of the greatest amatuer bb'ers and a truely great bb'er that never won a pro show.

i wish some one had a pic of his side tricep shot it was so freaky that he looked like an alien, he had some of the best arms in the history of the sport, i remember reading about him in Flex when him and Matarazzo were coming up together in Massachusetts around the same time

Re: Another sad day for the Bodybuilding world.
Where were his so-called friends in the sport? I remember reading after he got out of jail that he felt bitter that while on top of his game, everyone praised him and wanted to be around him. After his troubles people tossed him out like yesterday's garbage. This sport eats people up and it's a damn shame.
Rest in peace Paul. I am so sorry.

Re: Another sad day for the Bodybuilding world.
I still can't believe Quadzilla is gone.....this is terrible news. What a year this has been for bodybuilding. I thought he was much older than 37, he seems to have been around forever. That means dude was only like 27 when he was at the Olympia in 95.

Re: Another sad day for the Bodybuilding world.
Massive- paul once posted on another board a while back where he admitted that he did in fact pull out his gun out of anger and stupidity at the moment and he confirmed that he did fire it in the air over her head to scare her. he didnt get attempted murder for a conviction. but he did get a number of other charges like reckless endangerment, assault, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm, etc, etc. he admitted it was a stupid mistake. the DA didnt have to make up charges on it. paul was in the wrong 110%.
i doubt the media will make anything of the bb'ing tragedies. i mean they havent said shit yet about any of them and paul was long out of the public eye.
it is a damn shame. paul was and will remain a favorite of mine. those black and whites you posted above, are a couple of the best bb'ing shots i have ever seen IMO. throw them in a book with the grainy dorian shots and some hardcore cutlers and a few old school prince's and you got a best seller.
